August 05, 2009
According to Chief Frost, WPD is looking into the disappearance of a 23-year-old Waynesboro man who reportedly went missing after being dropped off at a location not far from his Turner St. home.
Chief Frost said that Kenny Gandy reportedly disappeared on Wednesday, July 22, 2009.The individual's mother,Jessie Gandy, called the WPD two days later to report that he had not been home and had not been heard from since the week before. Investigations have taken the WPD in several different directions, and all leads are being followed the have been recieved so far.The FBI has also been contacted regarding the disappearance of Gandy as the search continues. According to Chief Frost, Gandy had been riding in the community with area resident Jermal Taylor, who reportedly dropped him off at a Turner Street apartment complex locally known as "the high rise". That was the last reported sighting of Gandy by anyone. Based on the interviews, Taylor reportedly dropped Gandy off on the Turner Street side of the high rise, and that was the last time anyone heard from him. He has not tried to make any contact with his family or anyone else that WPD is aware of at this time. Gandy is described as a black male with light complexion and medium build, standing about 6'3" and weighing around 200 pounds. Gandy's hair is cut in a fade style. He also has tattoos on his forearms that read "R.I.P Ida Pace and J.C. Pace and Jimmy Gandy." So far WPD has looked into several leads-including indications that Gandy was being held against his will at homes in the 900 block of Turner Street, in the 500 block of Wells Street and in the 400 block of Willowbrook Drive. Searches of all three locations turned up no evidence that Gandy had been at any of the locations, according to Frost.Indications that Gandy might have been in the area of the W.C. Pitts gravel pit off Highway 184 and in the heavily wooded area behind the Wal-Mart Supercenter , all turned up to be nothing. Chief Frost urges those with information related to Gandy's disappearance to call Waynesboro Police at 601-735-3192 or Wayne County CrimeStoppers at 601-735-5323
