WPD Investigates Armed Robbery

According to Chief Leonard Frost, on June 21, 2007, the Waynesboro Police
Department received a call that a truck driver for Lay’s Potato Chip had been robbed on Court Street. The driver was identified as Danny Byrd. Byrd stated that a black male, approximately 6'3", clean cut, wearing a black pull-over type shirt, and black pants, approached him striking him in the head with a pistol demanding money. A black male juvenile was detained by the officers. The subject was later identified by Danny Byrd as the robber. The suspect was transported to the Wayne County Adult Detention Center. The suspect is being held pending a hearing by the Youth Court Judge.
